MARIA ORLAND, DREAM TO PUBLISH AUTHOR

MARIA ORLAND

Founder, Afterglow Media, Marcia’s decision to become a personal historian was motivated by the same reasons she uses to persuade others to record their life stories. When her parents passed away within weeks of each other, after 70 years of marriage, she and her sisters realized they had missed many opportunities to ask questions and record the answers to things they wanted to know; but they waited too long, and it was too late.

Therefore, after spending many years as a corporate executive, in 2003 Marcia knew she had found her passion: to encourage others to preserve and share their memories, leaving a priceless legacy for their families and communities. She founded Afterglow Media and began exploring creative methods of preserving visual histories and milestone moments in time. Her intuitive nature and inventive style make her uniquely qualified to expertly capture an individual’s spirit, and bring each story to life.

In addition to A&E style life story documentaries, Marcia has produced over 45 DVD projects for The Board Resource Center in Sacramento, CA, a non-profit organization advocating for the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities. This important work has gained recognition nationally and internationally.

Marcia also combines life storytelling DVDs with beautiful coffee table photo books to memorialize special events and occasions.
